Mesothelioma help and legal resources, in plain English
Clear information for people facing a mesothelioma diagnosis and for the families helping them: what the disease is, where to find specialist care, and how legal claims, asbestos trust funds, and VA benefits work.
No cost to use this site or send a form. Sending a form does not create an attorney-client relationship.
If you or a family member was just diagnosed
- Ask about a cancer center with mesothelioma experience. A second opinion on the pathology is common.
- Write down every job, ship, and home where asbestos might have been, with rough years.
- If you served in the military, ask about VA benefits. Help from accredited service organizations is free.
- Learn the time limits for legal claims in your state. They are often short.
What this site is for
A mesothelioma diagnosis brings medical questions and, for many families, legal and money questions too. This site tries to answer both in one place, calmly and with sources. Medical pages are summarized from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the American Cancer Society. Legal and benefits pages point to the statutes, agencies, and courts that set the rules.
When you are ready to talk to someone, the free case review form sends your details to a participating law firm that handles asbestos cases. You decide whether to go further. Nothing on this site should replace advice from your own doctor or a lawyer you choose.

What is mesothelioma?
A cancer that starts in the thin lining (the mesothelium) that covers the lungs, the abdomen, the heart, or the testicles. Most cases are linked to breathing or swallowing asbestos fibers, often decades earlier. Read more.
Does this site cost anything?
No. Reading the site and sending a form are free. Law firms pay to advertise here and to receive inquiries, which is why the site is labeled attorney advertising.
Is there a deadline to file a mesothelioma claim?
Yes. Every state sets a deadline (a statute of limitations), and it often starts when the illness was diagnosed or when a death occurred. Personal injury deadlines run from one year in a few states to six years in others. See the state-by-state table and confirm the rule for your state with a lawyer.
I am a veteran. Where do I start?
VA disability compensation can be available when a health condition is linked to asbestos contact during service. Free help filing is available from VA-accredited Veterans Service Organizations. See the veterans page.
